Samsung UN55ES7100 55 inch LED HDTV

For some, Black Friday and Cyber Monday is just around the corner and for others Boxing Day is not too far away. Every year stores spend endless amounts of advertising dollars to get you into the stores and earn your hard earned greenback. However, how do you know the ES7100 is a better buy than the ES6500 or that the model you really want is the ES7500 or ES6500? You don’t, until you start reading reviews and seeing what’s on the market.

Samsung ES7100

Today’s review featured the UN55ES7100. In Canada this model retails around $2000, three hundred more than the ES6500, one hundred and fifty dollars less than the ES7500 and five hundred less than the ES8000 (all prices approximate at time of review). The UN55ES7100 falls in a very tough market category with lots of good products priced for less and an equal number of better products priced for slightly more. The TV design, functionality and picture quality is more than exceptional and you won’t be disappointed by the quality one bit. I was very pleased with the overall image quality and did find it better than the UN55ES6500 I reviewed a few weeks ago. The low power draw is another huge plus in my book as are the four 3D glasses and impressive SMART Hub. However, I think it is also worth considering the ES7500 series as for an extra $150 you get a built-in camera, smart touch remote, 840 CMR, Pro Macro-Dimming and DNSe audio. That’s a lot of value!

Samsung ES7100 Approved

  • Advantage

  • Attractive design
  • Smart TV Hub offers vast array of apps and features
  • Good picture quality
  • Low power consumption
  • Disadvantage

  • No QERTY remote
  • ES7500 offers many more temptations

I’d like to thank Samsung for making this review possible.
