In today’s day and age of technology the living room or family room of a house is generally focused around a TV. It’s the watering hole for the family where cartoons are watched, news gets delivered and prime time shows are aired. When friends come over to my place, the TV is the first thing they’ll see as they walk into the living room. Sitting proud up against the corner my TVs demand attention. When Samsung asked me to review the UN55D8000, I was unsure if this would be a suitable replacement to the flagship 55C9000 that previously sat there.

The D8000 series is Samsung’s newest family of TVs. It comes in three different sizes: 46, 55 and 65. Apart from size, each models is the same. Gone are the days where you might find a D8001 or a D8100 with a slight variation in features: one extra HDMI cable or one less USB port or no Media Play feature.
