Samsung UN55ES7100 55 inch LED HDTVNov 20th, 2012 | By Simon
The Samsung UN55ES7100 was delivered in the standard cardboard box with a large color poster glued to the side. The poster offers the most basic information to allow you to make some kind of decision as to why the ES7100 would be the right pick for you compared to the many other TVs out on the market. The poster highlights the four 3D glasses included at the top right, the 55″ screen size to the bottom right as well some features noted at the bottom: Full HD 3D, Smart Content, Dual Core, Clear Motion Rate 720, ONE Design, Micro Dimming, HDMI support, Energy Star compliant, Netflix compatible.
The box is thin at 6″ thick but is very long and awkward to carry by yourself for long distances. It is easy to drag it a few feet but I don’t recommend carrying it up a flight of stairs by yourself as you don’t want to damage the content even though everything is well protected. In the picture below we can see the extruded Styrofoam protecting the screen, base and all the accessories.
Some of these accessories include the manual, registration paperwork, 3D Actives Glasses, base stand and mount, remote control, battery, power cord and tie-off.
Assembling the TV is a straight forward process can be easily be managed by one person. You want to start by laying the stand down and installing the TV bracket for it. The bracket is held down by four screws. The TV is then removed from its protective bag and lifted into place where it rests on two tabs while four bolts screws through the bracket and into the TV back panel.
With the screen mounted to the base, we can see the back of the TV and locate the I/O panel and power plug. There are 3 USB ports, 3 HDMI ports, one digital audio out, one DVI Audio IN, one Audio Out, one EX-Link, one antenna connection, a set of component in connections and one LAN port. The power plug is down and to the right from the center of the panel.
As we continue to rotate the TV around we see how thin it is. At the thickest point, where the down-firing speakers are, the TV measures 1.2″. At the thinnest location the TV is roughly 0.75″.
Now to the front of the TV where we can see the screen.
Let’s have a look at the features and specifications now.
