All of the above sounds pretty good but how does it compare with the UN55D8000? On paper, the UN55D7000 is about $400 less than the UN55D8000. There are a few differences between the two models. The first and most obvious is that the UN55D8000 includes two SSG-3300GR glasses which is worth $200 dollars. The 55D7000 is marginally larger, by 8mm on the width and 3mm in height. The UN55D8000 has Clear Motion Rate 960 vs the UN55D7000′s Clear Motion Rate of 720. Clear Motion Rate is the TVs ability to resolve the details in fast moving images. The UN55D8000 would be in theory slightly faster, however in my testing I did not see this difference. The UN55D7000 is not Touch Control Ready and does not have the Light Effect (Deco). The Light Effect (Deco) lets you independently adjust or turn off the stand-by light. This feature would tell you that your TV is on and just on stand-by whereas on the D8000 you could completely disable it. Touch Control Ready allows you to swap out the standard remote for the touch-screen model we saw last year with the C9000 and despite not being formally listed on the D7000 specifications the press release says it is compatible… One plus to the D7000 that the D8000 doesn’t have is a slightly lower energy consumption. With the D7000 the specifications list the power draw as 1.9W less than the D8000.

Overall, this TV looks, sounds and operates very closely to the D8000. Let’s keep moving on with the review.
