Samsung UN55ES6500 55 inch LED HDTV
Oct 24th, 2012 | By SimonThe Samsung UN55ES6500 was delivered in a pretty standard cardboard box with a large color poster glued to the side of the box. The color poster gives you all the basic information you need to know about the TV. It also gives you a very good look at what the TV looks like, what the SMART HUB interface looks like and explains how some of the features (Clear Motion Rate, Wireless LAN built-in, allshare, HDMI, Smart Content and ONE Design. The color box also tells you that two 3D Active Glasses are included; this is great news because I always found it cheap when Samsung would sell you a great expensive TV with only one or no glasses included! What the box doesn’t tell you is how many HDMI/USB connections are included or what other connection options you have. The box itself is slim, less than 6 inches thick but long. It can be carried a short distance by one person but I recommend two if you need to haul it up the stairs or across a long hallway.

The box opens from the bottom and the empty cardboard shell can be tossed to one side giving you access to the panel, base stand and all the included accessories.

Some of these accessories include the manual, registration paperwork, 3D Actives Glasses, base stand and mount, remote control, battery, power cord and tie-off.

Assembling the TV is a straight forward process can be easily be managed by one person. You want to start by laying the stand down and installing the TV bracket for it. The bracket is held down by four screws. The TV is then lifted into place where it rests of two tabs while a bolt screws through the bracket and into the TV back panel.

Now we have a complete look at the back side of the TV. From the back we see the I/O panel is on the left. The power connection is on the right.

As we rotate the TV around to the front we get a sense of how thin the panel is. At the thickest point, down firing speakers, the panel is 1.2″ thick. At the top of the panel we are a mere 0.75″ thick.

We’ll complete our rotation to give us our first look of the front of the UN55ES6500.

Before we plug in the power, we’ll have a glance at the features and specifications.
