RCA DHT235C Portable Digital TV
Jun 8th, 2011 | By JaredThe DHT235C has a 3.5″ screen with a small speaker towards the bottom left and all of the buttons and controls to the right. The back of the TV has the On/Off switch, battery cover and the easel-back stand. The dimensions of the unit are 4.75″ wide, 2.75″ tall and 1.25″ deep.
On the sides you have a headphone jack, optional external antenna input, integrated digital antenna on the left side and optional DC power port on the right side.
Pulling off the battery cover you can see that it runs off of 4 AA batteries. RCA rates it for 3 hours on batteries, and my testing very nearly reached that time as I had it shut off at 2 hours and 56 minutes on standard alkaline batteries. This should give you ample time to keep track of the news or watch your favorite sport.
The antennal extends out and bends up to achieve the optimum signal.
Once you power up the TV the first thing you need to do is trigger the auto search to detect all available digital signals in your area. The LED screen on the DHT235C is bright and produces a sharp picture.
Navigating the menu is simple and offers some basic setting adjustments along with channel hopping, EPG (Electronic Program Guide) and channel editing.
RCA is largely marketing the DHT235C as a device to keep you prepared in case of bad weather. To that end this little TV does the job well and would make a great addition to any emergency pack whether it be at home or on the road. Unfortunately the DHT235C does not support Mobile TV so it must be in a stationary position to watch. Sorry kids this won’t work during that car trip but would be ideal to take to the beach. I picked up over twenty local channels with a clear and crisp picture delivered on every one.
