Each fan on the NH-L12 is held on via two metal clips. Typically I am not a fan of metal clips but these are easily removed and reinstalled.

The four heatpipes are spaced out along the cooling fins and protrude out the front. You can see there is an indention along the bottom where the smaller NF-B9, 92mm fan resides.

The heatsink contact plate is smooth but not polished. Two brackets hang off to either side for mounting to the rest of the SecuFirm2 hardware.

The NF-B9 utilizes seven fan blades with beveled blade tips and Vortex-Control notches to keep the fan noise to a minimum. The NF-F12 fan uses seven fan blades with such features as a stepped inlet design a specially designed Heptaperf impeller to keep noise to a minimum without hurting performance. The NF-F12 also has built in anti-vibration pads to reduce noise, while the NF-B9 relies on small strips on the heatsink itself for vibration reduction.

With the fans removed we can see the varying grooves in the heatsink fins to facilitate increased area and to create turbulence. On the bottom you can see the small pads to reduce vibration from the bottom mounted 92mm fan.
