First off, a profile shot:
From the sides, all 46 fins sit straight and evenly spaced out. Each brushed aluminum fin gently reflects light. The ends of each fin are bent down slightly, to help focus airflow from one side through to the other.
After removing the
“Please remove before install” sticker, the clean base shows its face. The surface is very clean and smooth – almost satin-like in its finish, and void of any harsh manufacturing marks. The reflection is not mirror-like, and gives an average reflection in terms of color and clarity. The perfection of the contact base is crucial to a heat sink’s performance; the cleaner the surface, the less imperfections it has, and less imperfections means better contact quality with the CPU. Unfortunately, the contact base has a very slight bow to it – we will soon see if this impedes on performance or not.
