When computer enthusiasts like you and me are shelling out hard earned money on new stuff, it tends to cost a fair deal of money. Luckily, it doesnt always have to cost an arm and a leg! Every now and then, a product that is cheap but very efficient catches my attention and the gadget Im looking at today is something like that. Its called a DiscHub and in short, its made to keep your cds within reach without having a pile of unprotected discs getting scratched all over the place or as the manufacturer calls it: Innovative Disc Storage. Lets see how innovating this gizmo really is shall we?

Like I already pointed out in the introduction, the DiscHub is aimed at people who tend to use a lot of CDs or DVDs and have them lying around on the desk. In my case, I have several cds that I use on a daily base and putting them into the cover every time I need it, is just too damn hard. Perhaps you could call me lazy, but opening that box ten times a day gets on my nerves faster then you can say dust and scratches. The latter is exactly what happens to my cds after several weeks of intensive usage and so I end up rewriting them on a regular base.
This is where the DiscHub jumps in: instead of spreading all the discs around my desk, I can slide them nice and quick into this handy lifesaver. Not only does it keep my discs free from scratches, it also keeps them ordered as I dont have to dig my way through a pile of cds anymore.

Each DiscHub can hold up to eleven CDs or DVDs, lined up next to each other, but with enough space in between them so you can easily see the label. The retention system is made from neoprene, allowing simple insertion and extraction, but also keeps the discs locked in place when needed, without damaging the discs of course. In fact, the discs are locked so tightly, you can turn the hub upside down without endangering your collection! What more can you ask for?

The DiscHub is made out of hard, light-weight plastic and is available in several different colors from attention grabbing lime to pro-looking white. Having that said, I am confident to say that this product is build with a high level of quality and will serve you many years to come.

Upon writing this article, I have been using my DiscHub for over three weeks and honestly, I couldnt live without it anymore. My desk is a lot cleaner nowadays, I tend to locate CDs and DVDs a lot faster and best of all, I dont have to rewrite stuff after several weeks of usage because thanks to this they are free of scratches and other damaging events. The only downside is dust, but when my discs were lying around the place, dust was there as well, so it isnt really a point or argument. Also notice that this device is intended for use with discs you need often, not discs which are stored away for several years to come. The DiscHub is retailing for $15.99 but because of the holidays, they are charging owner for as low as $11.99 with free shipping! Frankly, this is a no-brainer for all computer enthusiasts out there!
