HIS HD 5830 iCooler V Turbo
May 4th, 2010 | By JaredGames are a big factor in many consumers’ purchasing decisions and particularly so when looking at the 5800 series video cards.
First up on the block is Crysis. Crysis obviously needs no introduction as a system killer when it comes to performance. All settings were set to Very High with 2x anti-aliasing and the built in GPU benchmark was used.

While I wouldn’t call the results playable at under 32 fps, the numbers are pretty strong when you compare it to the 4890. Unlike in the synthetic results the HD 5830 iCooler V Turbo really doesn’t come to close to the 5830.
Next up is Far Cry 2 that utilizes a new game engine designed specifically for this game called Dunia. The Dunia engine is DirectX 10 and should stress the cards pretty good. Tests were run with settings at Very High and 4x anti-aliasing.

The Far Cry 2 results are interesting in that as the resolution got higher the HD 5830 gave up some ground to the older 4890. There is roughly a 4 fps gain throughout the results from our overclock.
The last game on the agenda today is Codemaster’s Dirt 2. For testing I used the Ultra preset with 4x MSAA and used the games built in graphics benchmark.

Dirt 2 results are very similar to what we saw with Far Cry 2 as the HD 5830 just edges out the HD 4890, while with our additional overclock there is a 3-4 fps increase.
