Lancool PC-K57
Nov 19th, 2011 | By SimonWithout a window to look at the PC-K57 exterior review will be pretty quick. Starting at the front we have a bezel that resembles what a knight could have on their helmet. At the very top edge we have the I/O panel: USB 3.0, USB 2.0, microphone, headset, reset and power button. I was a little surprised to not see an eSATA connection or more USB connections but at the same time the USB 3.0 is a nice feature to have as many motherboards move towards including that feature. Below the I/O panel we have space for three 5.25″ drives and below the drive bays we have the fan grills for two 140mm fans. Only one 140mm fan is included but you could install a second to improve internal air flow.
If you need access to the fan filters for cleaning the bezel pulls right out. A simple tug and it’s free.
On the back we have a very typical rear panel. There is a 120mm fan at the top right with two holes cut out for water cooling lines making this case water cooling ready. Off to the side we have the motherboard rear I/O panel followed by eight expansion slot and at the very bottom we have space for a power supply.
With side panels, one piece has space for two 120mm fans and the other has nothing. The two 120mm fans will useful if you wanted to give your case some extra cooling.
The top of the case is completely flat with nothing to discuss. On the bottom we have four rubber feet to aid in vibration dampening. There is also a fan filter directly below the power supply. I’m not 100% sure how effective this is because it would be a complete pain to clean! I know I would never bother which would then only negatively impact performance. I would have preferred a basic grill.
Time to open up the case and put some hardware in!
