As with other Zalman products I’ve reviewed, the CNPS10X Flex is a well-engineered product that does what it should do and does it very well. The build quality is great and it performs admirably. Installation was very simple thanks to the included manual. The heatsink is also compatible with many different sockets and it even supports the latest Intel socket 1156. Furthermore, the ability to use 120mm fans of your choice is a plus.

The only problem I have with the CNPS10X Flex is the fact that it destroyed my motherboard when I tried to remove it. Using an adhesive for the retention backplate is something Zalman should reconsider. Not only can you not re-use the adhesive when you need to take off and re-install the heatsink, but it is also prone to damaging fragile components, such as the SMT capacitors in the case of my motherboard.

Zalman CNPS10X Flex

Would I recommend the CNPS10X Flex as your next CPU cooler? Yes, if you plan on installing it and never removing it. No, if you’re an enthusiast who goes through heatsinks very often and values your motherboard’s well-being.

Advantages

  • Good performance

  • Universal compatibility and easy installation
  • Ability to use fans of your choice

Disadvantages

  • Terrible choice of using adhesive for the retention backplate

I’d like to thank Zalman for making this review possible
