QNAP TS-419P+ Turbo NAS
Feb 3rd, 2011 | By SimonHardware installation is very straight-forward with the QNAP TS-419P+. You can choose to install anywhere between one and four drives but it would be rather silly to spend a few hundred bucks and only use one of the four slots! To pull a drive cage out you need to lift the lever to unlock it and pull it straight out. You then want to position it over the backside of a hard drive and screw it down with the included metal screws. The process if the same whether you use 3.5″ or 2.5″ drives, just make sure to line up the holes according to markings.

once you have the hard drives in place, the next step is providing power to the QNAP TS-419P+. QNAP has included a 120W power brick. I personally would have liked to see them integrate a power supply into the unit but there’s nothing wrong with a power brick. One difference with the power brick is in the 4-pin connector. It is actually spring loaded. To disconnect the drive you need to pull back on the black casing. This makes it a little more fool-proof where accidental pulls won’t shutdown the unit.

With the power connected, you need to connect a network cable to the LAN port and boot the device up. The LCD panel will greet you. From here you can navigate through the device options or initialize the drive using the software included.
