Logitech Wireless Mouse M305
Sep 23rd, 2010 | By SimonI’ve had the Logitech Wireless Mouse M305 for quite some time now and for anyone wanting a low cost compact mouse then this should fit your bill. It’s lightweight and can be easily tucked into my laptop bag for travelling. The compact size didn’t provide me with any fatigue even after multiple hours of use. If you have a big hand then the M305 might actually be too small for you. I can comfortably grip the mouse with just my fingers without making it seem like I’m holding something awkwardly small. The rubberized shell gave me good grip even in the hottest weather were humidity would make the smooth surface of my Microsoft mouse hard to use. I’ve slid the mouse of my table several times with good force and only the battery cover will pop off. There’s no damage to the functionality whatsoever.
Throughout my testing the mouse has proven very responsive. The only surface I wasn’t able to get it work on was glass which is typical for a mouse of this class. I had tried the M305 on hardwood, ceramic, tile, leather and on my jeans without any problems. There also appears to be no lag between when turning the mouse from off to on and when the cursor starts to move.
I also didn’t have any problems with the range the mouse provided. The 2.4Ghz technology was not interfered by my Wifi signal and throughout my entire home I had no problems moving the mouse around. This means that if you had your laptop at one end of the room and where making a presentation in the boardroom you won’t have to move your laptop to center stage.
While I haven’t had the mouse long enough to see when the single battery would drain out, some readers have reported about 10 weeks of use before the battery needs to be replaced. With the price of AA batteries this isn’t too bad. If you feel 3 months is not long enough, I would recommend buying a wired mouse where battery life is never a problem or getting the M505 where you should up to 15 month of battery life.
The suggested retail price of the M305 is thirty dollars but you could easily find is for twenty and likely much less with a sale. I would be happy to recommend the M305 to anyone looking for a small no frills notebook mouse for both at work, around the home or travelling.
