Corsair Force Series F180 180GB SSD
Jan 27th, 2011 | By SimonThe Corsair F180 is packaged in a generic Corsair Solid State Drive. The picture of the drive is genric with no model or capacity listed. What sets this package apart from different models is by the sticker on the bottom right.
On the back of the package we have a short blurb about how Corsair Solid State Drives are superior and what is included in the package. The paragraph is repeated in several languages.
On the top and bottom edge of the box we have a sticker with the Corsair logo and a label with the actual capacity and model number. Both stickers prevent the package from being opened. If you’re handed a package with the stickers cut open, question the legitamacy of what you’re getting!
The inside of the box is divided into two compartements to protect the drive itself. One compartment contains the sealed the F180 and the other contains the 3.5″ adapter and a small bag of screws.
Let’s start with the mounting bracket. Many older cases don’t come with a 2.5″ mount so the metal bracket is very much appreciated. Some newer cases have a bracket which makes this a bit redundant. Whether you need one or not is up to you but I very much appreciate the fact that Corsair has included one. Solid State Drives are still relatively new to the market and not everyone with an SSD will have a case with a bracket. Eight screws inside a small plastic bag are taped to the bracket.
There’s not too much to show with the F180 drive itself. It’s your typical 2.5″ drive.
Two “Warranty Void if Broken” stickers are glued two the tops of two screws. It’s not worth breaking open the case to see what is inside. They all look pretty much the same on the inside so let’s just move on.
