Games can be a big factor in many consumers’ purchasing decisions so of course I am going to throw in some real games.

First up on the block is Crysis. Crysis obviously needs no introduction as a system killer when it comes to performance. All settings were set to High with 0x anti-aliasing and the built in GPU benchmark was used.

Crysis can stress even today’s high end GPUs so it’s not really a surprise the results here.

Next up I hit a real time strategy game, Company of Heroes. I used the built in benchmark and set everything to high with 2X AA.

The Axle HD 5450 fairs a little better in Company of Heroes but still lags behind.

The last game on the agenda today is another real time strategy game with World in Conflict. For testing I used the High settings preset with 2x AA and used the games built in graphics benchmark.

Again we see similar results to all of the other benchmarks.

With all the benchmark dust settled there really weren’t any surprises at the lack of gaming power in this card, but gaming isn’t really the focus of the Axle HD 5450 LP 512MB. The Axle HD 5450 is passively cooled and because of this is probably the ideal card to drop into a HTPC with all of the media processing benefits of the HD 5000 series cards without the price tag or noise of the higher end models.
