The following system configuration will be used to test the Hades’ cooling capabilities:

  • Control

  • Asus P6T
  • Intel Core i7 920 @ stock speeds
  • 6GB OCZ DDR3 1600
  • XFX Radeon HD 5770
  • Two Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB in raid 1
  • Windows 7 Premium 64 bit

    Cases

  • NZXT Hades
  • Antec P180

For the test, I will allow the system to idle for 3 hours. Temperatures will be recorded. Then, I will stress the system with OCCT for another three hours, and recorded the temperatures again.

Ambient room temperature is 24 degrees Celsius.

Overall, the Hades performed admirably.  Beating the P180 under load conditions is not an easy task. The P180 was Antec’s top of the line chassis with three heat zones, separating the PSU, HDD and CPU.  This specific chassis has served me well for three years, and is equipped with four 120mm fans.

The massive 200mm fan kept the WD blacks almost at room temperature. Even at full load, the Hades managed to keep a small sound profile.  All of the pre-installed fans are whisper quiet and are able to move copious amounts of air.
