The first thing to notice about the Ice Blade Pro is its bulkier design, mainly in comparison to Deepcool’s other heat sinks. Typically bigger means better, but we’ll see about that in a moment. The top of the heat sink as very clean, as it doesn’t have the typical heat pipes jutting through.

Changing the angle to get a good look from the side, we see all four U-curved heat pipes solidly set into place through a total of all 47 aluminum fins. Each polished fin has an indent in the center and a serrated edge, both adding up to a modern, aggressive appearance.

From an alternate side angle, we again see the width of the heat sink, and the notches designed to hold two fans on either side.

The base of the unit has the typical Warning! sticker that must be removed prior to installation. Removing said sticker fully exposes the base, and when I place a green tack on the surface, it’s easy to note the quality here. It is important to note that a clean, shiny base with a much smoother surface, devoid of micro-scuffs and scratches, has better contact quality with the CPU, which in turn aids in better cooling performance. In this case, the Ice Blade Pro has an exceptional reflection; while not mirror-finished, it is still clean enough to anticipate better heat conductivity.
