Spire TherMax Eclipse II
May 15th, 2010 | By ChrisFirst, we need to mount the two included fans onto the heat sink. In the packaging, there are 8 rubber “plugs” that slide into the notches. Each “plug” slides into a screw hole in fan shroud, and securely holds it in place.

Spire has gone to what I consider the proper route and has opted to use a back plate to secure the unit to the motherboard. First off, thread the four bolts through the holes appropriate for your CPU socket; in this case, we are using the Intel LGA775. Next, secure the bolt in its erect place by threading a nut down each bolt, and then place a washer on top of that.

Next, let’s put the back plate in place. Slide the back plate and bolt assembly through the motherboard holes.

Next, apply thermal compound to the CPU, and put the Eclipse II in place, threading the bolts through the hole patterns. Then thread the thumb screws down, securing it in place.

The installation was very basic and straightforward! Does it perform just as phenomenal?
