Spire TherMax Eclipse II
May 15th, 2010 | By ChrisThe box is where the initial attraction lies, so let’s have a peak at that. On the face of the packaging, we can get a small glimpse at the Eclipse II, and around that is a picture of the Eclipse II, “Spire” across the top, “TherMax Eclipse” down the side, and multiple features printed in a small font across the bottom.

The right side simply says “Installation manual inside the box” in seven different languages.

On the back, Spire has placed a small piece of writing explaining the background and goal of the Eclipse II. On the bottom half are some 360 degree shots of the cooler itself.

On the left side, all of the coolers specifications are laid out for us, as well as a list with any extra package contents.

There’s a lot of information on the packaging which can be slightly overbearing, but the color scheme and design hits the mark; the colors are awesome. Let’s pull it out and see how it’s contained within. The Eclipse II is placed in a plastic “clamshell” packaging. As we can see, some of the angles protecting the heat sink have been cracked or very worn down. Flipping it over, we can see the plastic dented in several locations, with more cracks here and there. I would have to say this is one of the least effective ways to package, ship a product and expect it to survive. Foam would have been a much more viable option.

Let’s take a quick look at the specifications and features before we get closer.
