Sparkle GTX 465 (SXX4651024D5-NM)

The GTX 465 chipset leaves me with somewhat mixed feelings. The card performs well for its price and responds well to overclocking which seems consistent with its bigger brothers. The GTX 465 gives Nvidia a lower priced DirectX 11 part to compete with ATi’s HD 5800 series cards which have seemingly had a stranglehold on the market. You also get the latest benefits of Nvidia’s cards including 3D Vision Surround, PhysX and Purevideo HD.

On the flipside of all of this the thermal envelope is practically unchanged from the more powerful GTX 470 and 480 cards even though the 465 has nearly 100 fewer processor cores. As with most new high end cards the reference fan can get quite loud especially if you want to adjust to keep this warm running card cooler.

If you are looking to stay in the Nvidia camp and are on a limited budget Sparkle’s GTX 465 will certainly fill the spot you need.
