Silverstone Technology NT07-1156 HSF
Nov 28th, 2010 | By SimonThe Silverstone NT07-1156 was packaged inside a small cardboard box without any fancy pictures. The prints on the box list the features and specifications. There’s no picture of what the cooler looks like if you were hoping to get a visual idea.

Opening up the box we have the CPU cooler, a small bit of thermal paste and and installation guide.

The NT07-1156 looks very much like the stock Intel 1156 cooler but on a much smaller scale. The nine bladed fan clips onto a cylindrical heatsink and the motherboard mount is integrated into the heatsink frame. The NT07-1156 uses the same push-pin clips to secure itself against the motherboard as the stock Intel cooler, this basically means installation will be a breeze for everyone.

From a side view we can clearly see how thin the NT07-1156 is. With the fan it measures just under 1.5″, 29.5mm. A typical 1U rackmount is 1.75″ in height so that just shows you how small the NT07-1156 really is!

To improve thermal heat transfer between the CPU and the heatsink, the NT07-1156 has a copper core which has been polished to a very smooth and flat finish.

Pulling the fan off the heatsink is unnecessary but allows us to get a better look at the fins and the core.

The fan has two modes of operations, normal and extreme. The extreme mode basically kicks the fan up to another gear for more airflow.
