The Grandia GD05′s bezel is made out of plastic but has an aluminum skin. This gives it a very sleek finish without the case or weight of extra aluminum. For all intensive purposes, I think this is a much better method of finishing a case. The front of the case has a power button, a reset button, a blue LED to indicate the computer is powered on, two USB ports flanking a microphone and speaker port. The 5.25″ bay is exposed and I would have loved to see some kind of cover to hide what will be a ugly plastic drive. If this is an absolute must for you, the GD04 has a cover and is essentially an identical case. After checking with SilverStone, the GD05 was made intentionally with no cover to allow for a hard drive rack or other 5.25″ drive bay devices.

On one side of the case we have two 120mm fans and on the other side we have one 120mm fan. The three 120mm fans will make for great air flow through the case even at low CFMs.

Each fan is protected by a fine filter to minimize dust intake. The fan is none other than SilverStone’s S1202412LIW-3M. The fan features the golf ball dimples to increase airflow while minimizing noise output. A quick search on Google shows that the fan has a noise output of 20dBA and put out 50CFM.

Moving along, the top of the case is completely flat with the exception of a small slotted area above teh general vicinity of your video card.

On back side of the case we see a large slot of the power supply, the motherboard rear input/output panel, five expansion slots and space for another two 80mm fans.

With a total of five fans, six if you include the exhaust from the power supply, you should have no problems installing a passive heatsink on your CPU and GPU and take full advantage of the cross breeze fans will product.

On the bottom of the case we see 4 feet with foam and rubber to dampen the vibration. The large ventilation slot is for the power supply.
