We start the review off with the package and contents. The Grandia GD05 is packaged inside a large cardboard box with two clear pictures of the case. The box is definitely intended to allow those shopping at a physical store to read about how the GD05 is superior to any other case on the market. The Introduction on the box is almost 200 words long! In addition, there’s a list of features and a detailed specifications chart listing the compatible motherboard sizes, the quantity of drive bays, the cooling potential, expansion slots, I/O ports, allowable PSU size and expansion card and overall size.

Once the box is opened, it’s clear why the box is so large. Like many other SilverStone cases, the GD05 is enclosed in Styrofoam to generate an air gap. This air gap protects the case from light bumps during transportation and potential punctures. A small secondary box houses the accessories: a pack of screws, a power adapter for the fans, zip ties for cable management and vibration dampening tabs to be used with your power supply.

The final piece of protection for the case is the plastic bag the enclosure is put in. This plastic bag will prevent the case from scratches if the bag of screws pops open or if any debris makes its way into the box during shipment. Sand can be very abrasive if it’s inside the box and the last thing you want is for a brand new case to be scratched up.
