The market for Blu-ray players and writers for your personal PC is slowly starting to grow. I remember the days when the first DVD burner came out and the costs were sky high. The situation with Blu-ray burners is the same but we’re starting to see prices come back to earth.

Lite-On iHBS112

At time of writing, the Liteon iHBS112 is the lowest cost 12x Blu-ray burner on the market. With an MSRP of $150, it is nearly 50 bucks less than the Plextor PX-B940SA I recently reviewed. The iHBS112 provides the same level of performance, 12x BD-R write, 8x BD-R Read, 16x DVD±R read and write and 48x CD-R read and write, and comes bundled with a great piece of CyberLink software to help create movies, data discs and enjoy movies in both 2D and 3D. If you’re in the market for a Blu-ray burner today, this is definitely the hardware to consider.

  • Advantages

  • Lowest cost 12x BD-R burners on the market
  • Includes diverse CyberLink software with 3D Playback
  • Compatible with almost all media types
  • Disadvantages

  • Limited brands of BD-R discs can actually burn at 12x

I’d like to thank Lite-On for making this review possible
