Before placing the unit in the system, we need to attach the single 120mm fan onto the side of the heat sink. In the packaging, there are four wire brackets to mount a fan – two per fan, in the case where you want another fan mounted. Mounting the fan is simple; just snag the screw holes, and wrap the bracket around until it catches on the fins.
In this review, I will be mounting it on an Intel LGA775 socket. The required brackets and screws are clearly marked, so it is easy to pick the right hardware for the installation. First off, the rear mounting plate must be set into place; four standoffs on the reverse side and four short screws threaded through secure it in place.
Next, we need to apply some thermal compound on the CPU, as this is the part where the heat sink is set down on the CPU. Then, place the universal bracket on the backside of the base plate, line up the holes with the related backplate, and thread the thumbscrews into place, securing the heat sink.
The installation was very basic and straightforward! Does it perform just as phenomenal?
