OCZ ZX Series 850W Power Supply
May 15th, 2011 | By AnthonyThere is very little one could reasonable fault the ZX 850W power supply on. Actually there’s quite a bit of things that I do like. OCZ has put quite a bit of thought, effort and detail into this power supply. The packaging, the paint job, wires, the clean construction inside, everything speaks highly of OCZ’s efforts here and their efforts are not without results. The ZX 850W isn’t only for show.

Line regulation was excellent and handled even beyond 850W of load in some grueling conditions inside the hot box. Even so, the unit managed an impressive 88.5% efficiency. Typically, this is where we would say something along the lines of ‘oh but, it is just too expensive’, but no, this isn’t the case at all. The OCZ ZX 850W is priced at around $160 over at Newegg and for that price, one could hardly go wrong.

- Advantages
- Excellent performance
- Quiet
- Disadvantages
- Hard to point any out!
This power supply, at NewEgg, , is $179.99 and there is an available $10.00 rebate. It’s been rated at 3 out of 5 eggs which is far from a good recommendation and is very overpriced.
Please search for a much better rated power supply for the $160.00 mis-stated in this article and you’ll find several that are much better rated by actual users of this type of device.
